this morning
a grey and sluggish rainy morning
i really hate getting up so early to go to work
i roll over as mom yells
i wish for just five more minutes in bed

i twist my head from side to side
trying to ease out the stiffness
standing under the hot steaming water
washing out my pores
washing out the dead feeling in my limbs

it's too early a morning
as i get dressed and shake some feeling into my arms
i stomp downstairs and plunk myself down into a seat
glowering at the world this morning
and throwing everything around

driving to work
staring out the window
tracing rain with my fingers
the general downpour
dragging everything down...down...down

and i get to work
and make my coffee
and catch myself in the mirror and gasp
and for almost an hour or half
i almost didn't love you
